How the dead pixel warranty check works
Manufacturers do not replace a monitor for any dead pixel. Almost all of them sell against ISO 13406-2 Class II, which permits a small number of defects scaled to panel size. This calculator applies that allowance to your resolution so you know where you stand before you contact support.

How to read the result
Allowances are defined per million pixels, so a 4K panel is permitted roughly four times as many defects as a 1080p one.
Exceeding the allowance on any single fault type is enough to support a claim; they are counted separately, not totalled.
Falling inside the allowance does not always mean you are out of options, because statutory consumer rights can be stronger than the standard.

How many dead pixels before a monitor is replaced?
Under ISO 13406-2 Class II, which covers most consumer monitors, the allowance is 2 always-on pixels, 2 always-off pixels and 5 stuck sub-pixels per million pixels. A 1080p panel is about 2.07 megapixels, so roughly 4 dead pixels are tolerated before a claim succeeds on the standard alone.
Why did support refuse my claim for one dead pixel?
Because a single dead pixel sits well inside the Class II allowance that nearly every monitor is sold under. It is not the manufacturer being unreasonable; it is the specification the panel was sold against. Your consumer rights may still give you a route, particularly within the first weeks after purchase.
What is the difference between fault types 1, 2 and 3?
Type 1 is a pixel permanently on, appearing as a bright dot on black. Type 2 is a pixel permanently off, appearing as a black dot on white. Type 3 is a single sub-pixel stuck on or off, appearing as a small red, green or blue dot. Each has its own separate allowance.
Do bigger monitors get more dead pixels allowed?
Yes, because the allowance is defined per million pixels rather than per screen. A 4K panel has roughly four times the pixels of a 1080p panel, so it is permitted roughly four times as many defects at the same class.
Does a zero bright pixel guarantee exist?
Some manufacturers offer a zero bright pixel or perfect screen guarantee, usually on higher-end or professional models, and some retailers sell it as an add-on. Those policies override the ISO class, so check your warranty document rather than assuming Class II applies.
